Olympics-themed Progressive Dinner

Last night, we and some neighbors had a progressive dinner inspired by the upcoming Olympics.  Each family picked a country and prepared a dish based on that nation's cuisine.

Here's Caleb with the torch:

We started off at the Pasquales' . . . make that Japan . . . for some sushi:

Even "sushi" for the kids (key ingredients were peanut butter, bananas, and nutella):

Here's Claire with the torch, leading the gang to Switzerland:

And Tyler and Emma created the event "Tandem Exersaucering":

Then the torch passed to Zoë when she led us over the Alps into Italy (no elephants required):

There we had penne alla vodka:

And Emma and the kids had maccheroni al formaggio:

Now Caleb takes the torch and leads everyone to Germany:

For some beer-soaked bratwurst:

Callan and Kinsley take the lead for the last leg . . . to England:

Where we had a very tasty trifle for dessert.  So tasty, I forgot to get a picture.

Then it was time for the events, AKA "The Hunger Games" (thanks to honorary Italian chef Kevin, Zoë's dad, for that one.)
